Breaking News: Supreme Court Adds New Category to Damages

This just in. The Supreme Court added a fourth category to the existing 3 categories of damages (pit, man, and fire). The new category is referred to as “ox”, but this does not make clear what situations the damager would be obligated to pay. The Head of the Court clarified that a person must only pay for the full damages if the animal does damage while walking or eating in a private area without intent to damage. If the animal gores, the owner only pays for half of the damages for the first 3 times (domestic animal). If it occurs more than that (wild animal), however, the owner must pay full damages regardless of the location where the goring takes place.
