Dear Vudes and Tus,

So basically I went to the fridge to get a nice Shabbos afternoon snack and of course had turned the light off before Shabbos, but the fridge got warmer as I opened it and turned on to cool it back to the original temperature. Am I obligated in anything?

Yerachmiel

Shalom Aleichem Yerachmiel,

What you did is a Psik Reishah, within that there are 2 categories benefit vs. no benefit. A Psik Reishah is doing something Mutar which causes something Asur too happen. Because you didn't benefit from the fridge going back down a couple degrees you would be Patur.

Aleichem Shalom,

Vudes and Tus
